Why is my miracle fruit tree not producing fruit?

ATOMickey asked:

When I first bought it, it was producing fruit quickly, if it was green it would turn ripe within a week, but now the flowers aren’t turning into fruit, they are just browning up and dying. My chickens ate all the ripe fruits once wen I left it outside, could it be that it is now in a shock or something. I spritz rain water on the leaves everyday, I water the roots every 3 days with rain water I collected (rain water’s PH level is only 5-ish). I also mulch with used coffee grounds, and I sprinkled cinnamon on the leaves to get rid of the ants. The plant is fine, just not producing fruit as I said above the flowers just brown up and die. I live in the Philippines so the humidity is fine. Please help.

  1. I found conflicting information regarding pollination of Synsepalum dulcificum (Miracle fruit), but you may need to hand-pollinate it to get the fruit to set. The chickens had nothing to do with it. See the sites below for more information. Hope this helps…
