pH Homoeostatic Mechanisms


Our cells, particularly the red blood cells can only survive when our bodies are powerful enough to maintain pH homeostasis or to recover it quickly after we’ve been exposed to harmful environmental threats. Some of the pH homoeostatic mechanisms in the body include temperature regulation, dilation of the eye, blood composition, heart beat rate, blood pressure, water content, blood sugar level, mineral relations, and the acid / alkaline balance of our body liquids. An essential feature of these mechanisms is they enable the red blood cells, the tissue which is a product of the red blood cells and all of the organism, also a product of blood, to conform to changes in both external and internal environmental conditions. If the pH homoeostatic mechanisms are diminished the body loses its capability to control these mechanisms. By taking a look at living blood employing a compound microscope we will be able to view the standard of the red blood cell, its environment and how well the body is handling these pH homoeostatic mechanisms.
