The way the Body Defends Itself from Acidification

Whenever it has an imbalance between acid and alkaline substances, whether in the body’s entire system or a particular organ, the body is forced to react in self-defense. It has two means at its disposal to take action: to reduce the number of the excessive acidic substance by eliminating it from the body; and to partially neutralize the substance by forming neutral salts by making use of elements whose properties are the opposite of those causing the problem. The task of getting rid of excess acid systems falls to the organs responsible for elimination: the lungs and kidneys along with the skin.

The most rapid means for getting rid of a sudden intake of acids is via the respiratory system. By oxidizing acids the lungs release them with each breath such as carbon dioxide and breathe moisture. It is a fairly easy solution, as it simply requires increasing the volume and rate of the breath to intensify the pace of elimination and adapt it to the body’s immediate physical needs. Unfortunately, this method is capable of dealing only with weak acids.

Strong acids, which are nonvolatile and cannot be exhaled as a gas by the lungs, can be eliminated through the kidneys only in a solid form. Uric, sulfuric, and similar acids must therefore be filtered out of your bloodstream by the kidneys and sent out of your body diluted in the urine. The kidneys, unlike the lungs, cannot adapt their elimination potential in accord with the needs of the body. Even working at maximum capacity, the kidneys cannot eliminate greater than a certain daily fixed amount. The accumulation of excess acid in the body’s internal environment would be irremediable if there was not another exit available: the skin, specifically the sweat glands. Often the skin is overlooked as a means of elimination, but it is very useful for the disposal of acids. Distributed over the entire surface of the skin, the sweat glands – of which there are more than 2 million – can expel strong acids because they work similarly to the kidneys and eliminate the same kind of wastes.

Strong acids can be flushed from the body diluted in sweat, although in lesser quantities than in urine, as the body loses less than a quart of sweat a day compared to about one . 5 quarts of urine. Furthermore, sweat carries a much smaller amount of toxins than does urine.

There are More to Greens than Alkalinizing

Green foods have a superior alkalizing effect, which helps keep the ratio between acidity and alkalinity in our body fluids balanced. Our cells cannot adequately function if the pH of your tissues and fluids is not alkaline. Maintaining this proper pH is not always easy – most processed foods are acidifying, and when we consume diet program them, our pH balance is upset. Green grasses contain mineral buffers such as potassium, calcium, and magnesium. These alkalizing minerals neutralize acidic materials and can help people maintain a healthy pH balance. Recently, research has unveiled many other possible benefits of greens.

Extracted compounds may have hypercholesteromic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-ulcer properties. A new antioxidant, 2″–glycosylisovitexin (2″–GIV), has been isolated and reported to have antioxidant activity equal to or superior to vitamin E. Green grasses are also full of amino acids, including the eight essential ones–that is, the amino acids that we must get from our diet. The body cannot produce them itself. Amino acids play a critical role in keeping your body free of toxins. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, which are the major constituents of every cell and body fluid (except urine and bile) and are thus necessary for the continual cell building, cell regeneration, and energy production that we need for life. An added benefit of green grass proteins is that they are polypeptides; smaller proteins that can be directly absorbed by the blood, where they promote cell metabolism (the chemical changes that we have to live) and neutralize substances that are bad for our health. Green grasses contain a multitude of the body’s spark plugs…enzymes. Enzymes are the catalysts for the body’s essential chemical reactions and are responsible for our digestive process, for providing cellular energy, and for antioxidant effects. Despite their importance, most people do not get the enzymes they need. It is because heat destroys enzymes, and most of our foods, whether cooked at home or processed, are heated and the enzymes destroyed. There are thousands of active enzymes in green grasses.

This belief is based on tests that use the enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD) as a marker enzyme. If the marker enzyme can be found in an active state, it is usually safely assumed that other enzymes found in green grasses as well be in an active state. Green grasses also contain a wide spectrum of vitamin supplements. Greens also contain chlorophyll. Chlorophyll has been studied for its potential as a deodorant, in stimulating tissue growth, and in stimulating red blood cells in association with blood supply. Perhaps most remarkable is the similarity between chlorophyll and the red pigment in blood. Research in the 1940′s demonstrated that the two pigments react the same during breakdown. According to tan article in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute (Jan. 4, 1995), chlorophyll fed to laboratory animals reduces absorption of three dietary carcinogens: heterocyclic amines (found in cooked muscle meats), polycyclic hydrocarbons (found in smoked and barbecued foods), and aflatoxin (a mold on peanuts). The chlorophyll formed complex compounds with the carcinogens while they were still in the digestive tract, limiting their bioavailability. Chlorophyll has also been found to reduce fecal, urinary, and body odor in geriatric patients. Even if your pH is properly balanced, don’t stop feeding your body with plenty of greens. The advantages of them are numerous.

Alkaline Drinking Water For Good Hydration

Water sustains all forms of life, including human life. Although water is at our disposal, it is probably the most mysterious substances on this planet. Scientists are still discovering amazing facts about water. More than 70% of our body weight is water; that translates into about 10 gallons of water for a person of 120 lbs. It is very important undertake a good understanding of water and to drink the right kind of water. Water is a strong solvent; therefore, it carries many invisible ingredients: minerals, oxygen, nutrients, waste products, pollutants, etc. Sea water is salty because, through eons, it dissolved minerals and salts from the mountains and carried them down stream to the ocean. Consumed by the human body, blood (90% of which is water) circulates throughout the body distributing nutrients and oxygen, and collecting wastes and carbon dioxides, delivering them to the disposal organs. If water was not a strong solvent, it could not perform these functions. Water molecule is H2O; that is two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom stuck together. The shape of the water molecule is like a Mickey Mouse face; the head is oxygen and the two ears are hydrogen. Since oxygen is electrically negative and hydrogen is positive, the water molecule is electrically polarized. That is why, a water molecule cannot exist independently; it must combine with other water molecules to form a five- or six-sided structure called a water cluster. In lower temperatures, a lot of the structures are hexagonal; therefore, snow flakes are hexagonal. In distilled water, at room temperature, one out of 10 million (1 in 107) water molecules is ionized. When a water molecule is ionized, it is split into hydrogen ions H and hydroxyl ions OH-. Neutral water means that the amount of hydrogen ions equals the quantity of hydroxyl ions in a container. The number is 10-7 times the entire number of water molecules in that container (that number we will call N). We abbreviate this by saying that the water has a pH value of 72). Acid water has a larger number of hydrogen ions in contrast to hydroxyl ions. For example, the quantity of hydrogen ions in acid water, with a pH value of 4, is 10-4 times N, and that of hydroxyl ion is 10-10 times N. The law of nature is such that the exponents must equal to 14 (4 10). The quantity of hydrogen ions in alkaline water, with a pH value of 9, is 10-9 times N, and that of hydroxyl ion is 10-5 times N. Note that 10-5 is larger than 10-9 by 10,000 times and, again, 5 9 is 14. Because the exponents must add up to 14, pH value of 7 is considered neutral. Since the value of pOH is 14 minus the value of pH, we don’t measure nor mention its value; it’s going to be known once the pH value is known. Because of this, there are only pH meters and no pOH measuring instruments3). Since alkaline water has more OH-s than H s, there are more oxygen atoms in it than in neutral water; that’s why alkaline water is sometimes called oxygen rich water. In the same manner, acid water is oxygen deficient water. An interesting trivial fact is that you have approximately 1025 H2O molecules in a 10 ounce glass of water. If that water has a pH value of 10, there are approximately 1021 hydroxyl ions (OH-) and approximately 1015 hydrogen ions (H ). How many hydrogen ions is one millionth of that of hydroxyl ions, which is negligible. It is primarily the abundant amount of hydroxyl ions that neutralizes acid hydrogen ions in our body to reduce the accumulated acid wastes, thus reversing growing older.
Hydration
The body must continuously be in a good state of hydration. Because 2.5 liters of water is lost each day through normal bodily functions, this must be replaced. There are two major issues that emphasize the call to keep the body adequately hydrated with water of the best quality, content, and structure so it can maintain homeostasis. First, the water we put in our body must be able to prevent toxins and chemical substances from accumulating and creating destructive influences on cells. Water must bring all minerals and nutrients required for cell metabolism, and remove any substances that can damage the cell. It must also have the ability to protect cell walls from damage and invasion. Second, since water is involved in every function of the body, it must act as a conductor of electrochemical activity, such as neurotransmission, by moving water from one nerve cell to another smoothly and effectively. Movement of water by the body processes between cells (extracellular fluid) is caused by osmosis. This is created by magnetic forces in your body, which keep the movement in balance. As water flows, changes in pressure create movement across the cell membranes. Any changes in pressure will allow proteins, minerals and other nutrients being carried by the blood to escape into spaces between vessels and deprive the cells of their vital needs to sustain life. When water in the blood is contaminated with chemicals, it enters the cells and changes their structure, which experts claim can lead to changes in DNA. This is actually the start of the disease process, which is nearly the same as growing older.

Structured Alkaline Water

Much research has been conducted on the effects of this unique water on the body’s response systems. Reports from studies suggest that structured or clustered water with a high pH can assist the body resist disease and slow aging by: Increasing Intracellular Hydration
Replacing Depletion of Essential Minerals
Stabilizing and Protecting Cells
Helping To Maintain Normal Blood Flow and pH Flushing Out and Preventing Wastes from Accumulating in Cells Preventing Free Radicals from Forming Water structured with pHion Booster™ can retain its magnetic properties because of its high mineral content. Up to 72 minerals are contained in pH Booster™. Because of its natural magnetization these minerals are naturally ionized. Unlike artificially magnetized water, the magnetization in pH Booster™ remains permanently, even after it is added to water and stored for long periods of time. The most unique feature of structured water is the formation and organization of its molecules Unlike regular water, structured water is naturally formed in smaller clusters of 5-6 molecules. Because of its natural magnetization, these clusters are more organized and move in an orderly pattern throughout the body. Structured water has a higher density than other water, even to water that was artificially magnetized. This increases the stability of the molecules, and in its place, also helps to keep the cells themselves more stable. These magnetized molecules pass readily through the cell membrane into the cell nucleus for better delivery of nutrients. They can also attract toxins and waste materials in the cells and keep itself pure of the body, creating somewhat of a chelation effect. Drink Up!
Water is critical to assist the general detoxification process and to re-hydrate the cells and tissues. Give yourself the gift of vibrant health and energy by drinking plenty of ionic, alkaline, structured water. Get hold of a good water bottle, throw a bottle of pHion Booster™ in your purse or bag and drink up!

The foundation for optimal health is pH Balance

Despite the extreme diversity of substances used by the body to build itself and function, you’ll be able to classify them in two major groups: basic (or alkaline) substances and acid substances. These two different groups of substances have opposing but complementary characteristics. To be healthy, the body needs both. When alkaline elements and acid elements are present in equal quantities the acid-alkaline or pH balance is achieved. How Acidity is measured As the difference between an acid and an alkaline is dependant on their ability to free about hydrogen ions, the unit that measures the degree of acidity or alkalinity of a substance is shorthand for the substance’s potential (p) for freeing hydrogen (H) ions, or pH. The pH measuring scale goes from to 14. The number 7 indicates the ideal balance between acids and alkaline substances and is called a neutral pH. The greater potential a substance has for freeing hydrogen ions the smaller is its pH number. The acidity range is from 6 to , zero indicating a state of absolute acidity. Conversely, a more alkaline pH is indicated by a higher figure, from 8 to 14, the last figure representing a state of total alkalinity (meaning a state in which no hydrogen ions are freed).

Note that on the pH measurement scale the greater the degree of acidity the lower the pH reading. The pH of different substances can be measured with a special reactive paper known as litmus paper. When put into contact with a dilution of the substance to be tested, the paper changes color to a degree that corresponds to the degree of acidity or alkalinity of that substance.

pH and Health

The body functions at its best when the pH of its internal biochemical environment, measured as a whole, is equal to 7.39, meaning slightly alkaline. The normal range of this optimum pH is very small, from a slightly more acidic reading of 7.36 to a more alkaline reading of 7.42. A reading of anything higher or lower than these figures indicates acidosis (from 7.36 to7) or alkalosis (7.42 to 7.8). If these limits are exceeded, the body cans no longer function, and illness appears. Illnesses caused by Acidification A surprising number and variety of physical problems and diseases can be caused by acidity. Indeed a triple action can prompt their appearance: enzymatic disturbances, aggressive activity by acids, and demineralization; three factors capable of striking any organic tissue.
Lack of energy: constant fatigue, loss of physical tone and psychical drive
Nervousness: agitation without cause, sensitivity, easily stressed
Conjunctivitis
Inflamed, sensitive gums Cracks at the corners of the lips
Dental cavities
Attack of diarrhea which expels acids
Rectal burning sensation
Predisposition to intestinal inflammation (enteritis, colitis)
Burning and irritation in the bladder or urethra
Runny nose Prone to chills
Dry skin Skin tends to be red and irritated in regions where there are heavy concentrations or sweat (knees, underarms, etc) Itches
Nails are thin and split and break easily
Hair looks dull and falls out in noticeable quantities
Leg cramps and spasms
Stiff neck
Lumbago
Mineral and calcium depletion of the skeleton
Osteoporosis
Rheumatism
Arthritis
Sciatica
Tendinitis
Migrant joint pains
Etc
Acidosis: a Widespread Issue
Today most the populace of the Western industrialized nations suffers from problems caused by acidification, because both modern lifestyle and diet promote acidification of the body’s internal environment. In general, the current standard diet is primarily composed of acidic or acidifying elements (proteins, cereals, sugars). Alkaline food such as vegetables are eaten in much smaller quantities. Their alkaline content is insufficient to neutralize surplus acids. Furthermore, the consumption of stimulants like tobacco, coffee, tea, and alcohol – every one of which has an extremely acidifying effect on our bodies – has grown to enormous proportions. Stress, nervous tension, noise, shortage of time, and other pressures are facts of life today and contribute to increasing the body’s acidification through the physiological disturbances they create. Physical exercise – which can play a huge role in maintaining acid-alkaline balance – is usually either insufficient or excessive. In both cases, acidification of the body’s internal environment is the result. Of all of the factors causing acidification the most important is unquestionably the food. Nearly all acidosis sufferers can be treated simply by significantly reducing their consumption of acidifying and acidic food and increasing their consumption of alkaline foods.

Nile Cruises

A few years ago I looked at various Nile Cruises and booked myself to go on one, it was a great way to see Egypt in all its glory, meet its people, landscapes, monuments and wildlife.

Cairo is seen as the gateway to Egypt, the sand on the streets serve as a reminder of the surrounding desert. The city full of tradition, customs and friendly people.

My view of the pyramids (Cheops, Khafre and Menkaure) was something I’ll never forget. The large and imposing Sphinx completes the mythical image of the old and former Egypt. After seeing the pyramids I would suggest a visit to the Citadel of Saladin, the home of the Alabaster Mosque and the famous Egyptian Museum.

After flying from Cairo to Luxor, we embarked on our cruise on the Nile stopping at various points including the temple of Luxor and then the grand temple of Karnak. Both of these Egyptian temples convey the feeling of size, wealth, space and the greatness of their conception. The following day we travelled further on our Nile Cruise and visited Necropolis with its more than 60 monumental tombs. The tomb is known as the Valley of the Kings.

Further on the Nile Cruise we travelled to Esna which continues on to Edfu. It is here where you learn about the close relationship between the Nile and Egypt, it marks every moment in Egypt’s history. The Nile Cruises take you to the temple Edfu, where people of all Egypt came to worship Horus, the god symbolised by the wings of a hawk. We then went on to Kom Ombo, visible itself from the Nile. This temple was dedicated to Sobek the God of crocodiles and Horus. If you get the chance to go on one of these Nile Cruises I would certainly recommend it. At the end of the Nile Cruise we flew to Cairo and back again to the UK – the views and memories I have from this Nile Cruise will stay long in my memory.

Health Responsibilities

It takes responsibility and power away from the individual person. In the words of Antoine BeChamp, “there’s little so fake that doesn’t contain some part of truth and so it is with the germ theory. ” One of 6 of us will become diabetic One of 3 of us will develop cancer One of 2 of us will develop cardio illness One of 6 couples will suffer with unexplained barrenness. One of 7 ladies in the US will develop breast cancer. We want to get out to the illness business.

If we would like to understand health, vitality and dynamism then we need to study the people that are healthy. During the past twenty-five years I’ve been studying health and how it is related to the blood. Viewing live and dried blood is the apex of understanding health and the simple way to achieve health with alkaline foods, drinks, exercise, respiring, getting sufficient rest, for example.

Truth Behide Health

Rockefeller, saw a chance to exploit the field of medicine due to its admitted doubt and unawareness of the time. He had arranged many business ventures for the Rockfellers’ and convinced John D Rockefeller to open the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research. The Rockefeller Institute saw medication itself as its field from its earliest existence scientists studying illness based on the germ concept of Pasteur. In 1901, William Henry Welch was employed by John D. Rockefeller to set up the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research.

William Henry Welch was soaked in the germ concept and established its robust hold on the medical model. You may call Dr. Welch the daddy of American Drugs and the perpetrator of the Pasteurian Germ Idea . After the civil war medication had discovered drugs like quinine, digitalis and opium of which Oliver Wendell Houses the doctor Dad of the high court justice declared, “I decisively accept that if the entire materia medica, as now used, might be sunk to the bottom fo the sea, it might be all of the better for humankind and all of the worse for the fishes.

” In 1911, the head of the high-school coaching French armed forces doctors in public health recounted that germs alone were “defenseless to create an epidemic. ” although it was too late, this actual view was now considered simply a minority view. The germ theory now had its hold on the states of the world!
